August 16, 2026

Aloha HIDOE families,

Following assessments of school campuses and surrounding community conditions, all public

schools statewide will be closed on Monday, Aug. 17. The additional closure will allow time

to complete campus safety assessments, restore utilities where necessary and address

storm-related impacts.

What this means:

  • There will be no in-person classes on Monday, Aug. 17.

  • Students should not report to campus.

  • Only staff who are supporting assessment of conditions and preparation for reopening will report to work sites on Monday.

At this time, the closure applies only to Monday, Aug. 17. Any updates regarding reopening or

additional closures will be shared as soon as they become available through official school and

department communication channels.

Please prioritize your safety and continue to follow guidance from local and state emergency

officials.

Mahalo for your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Brandy Yagi

Principal
