This year the state has mandated schools to implement a Sexual Violence Prevention Program (SVP)for grades K-12. The curriculum is provided from the Sexual Abuse Treatment Center (SATC). A parent brochure was mailed out in October. The main goal is to bring awareness to students to better prepare them in case a situation arises. Schools are expected to do 4-5 different lessons, depending on their grade level. Grades 9 &11 have four lessons, and grades 10 & 12 have five. Waianae High School is planning to roll out the curriculum in February during our Advisory period.
Below is a parent packet with information, as well as an OPT-OUT form with date of deadline. You will only need to turn in a form if you choose to have your child OPT-OUT of the lessons. A hard copy will also be sent home with your child in January. If you have any questions, please call (808) 697-9400. Thank you for your time and consideration.
