Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Hawai‘i Department of Health has issued an alert regarding a voluntary recall of Meadow Gold half-pint chocolate milk with an expiration date of October 16, 2025. The product was distributed to schools on O‘ahu, Maui and Kaua‘i—including our school.
This recall is being conducted out of caution due to potential quality control issues with the
product. While there have been no confirmed illnesses, families are advised not to consume any
Meadow Gold chocolate milk labeled with the “OCT 16” date if it looks, smells or tastes unusual.
The Hawai‘i State Department of Education and Department of Health are working closely with
Meadow Gold to manage the recall. In the meantime, schools have been instructed to stop
serving the affected product and to provide either shelf-stable milk or water as a substitute until
further notice.
We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of all students and will continue to follow
state guidance as this situation develops.
For a full list of affected distribution sites, please refer to the Department of Health's official
notice:
Sincerely,
Ray Pikelny-Cook
Principal, Wai’anae High School
