Dear Wai' anae High School parents and guardians,
Our administration has been made aware of an inappropriate video involving one of our students that was anonymously airdropped to random phones at Wai'anae High School on November 25, 2025. The video, which was privately sent to a known individual, has since been circulated among many students' personal text messages and social media accounts.
Our staff has been working directly with students involved, along with their parents, to investigate and address the situation. We are asking all students and families for their help in respecting student privacy by not engaging in sharing of the videos. If any student or individual received the video or has posted the video to social media, please delete it immediately.
Families and students should be aware that, given the nature of the content, sharing or forwarding the material can be considered a felony-level offense. Any individual identified as engaging in the sharing of the video will be referred to law enforcement for follow-up. We want you to have the facts so you can discuss them with your child and emphasize the seriousness of this issue while reinforcing appropriate online behaviors.
In addition, Hawaii Administrative Rules define terroristic threatening, bullying, cyberbullying and harassment as Class A offenses. Disciplinary actions may include detention, suspension and dismissal or, if deemed necessary, the case may be referred to police for further action.
The safety and well-being of all students, faculty and staff at Wai'anae High School are our highest priorities. We ask for your help to monitor your family's social media accounts for inappropriate content and to report anything related to our schools to our administration at (808) 697-9400.
Sincerely,
Ray Pikelny-Cook
Principal, Wai'anae High School
