Aloha Waianae High School parents and guardians,

There will be no school for Oʻahu students on Friday, Feb. 13. Students will not report to campus, and there will be no in-person instruction that day. This schedule adjustment is the result of the statewide school closure on Monday, Feb. 9, due to severe weather. Monday had previously been scheduled as a teacher institute (waiver) day for Oʻahu schools, with no students on campus. The Department of Education has rescheduled that institute day to Friday, Feb.13.

Neighbor island schools were already scheduled to observe institute day on Friday, Feb.13th;

this adjustment applies only to Oʻahu schools. The Department values instructional time and worked to minimize disruption while ensuring required professional learning time for educators. We recognize that changes to the school schedule can affect family and childcare plans. We appreciate your flexibility and encourage families to plan accordingly.

School offices will remain open, and employees will follow their normal institute day

expectations.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Mahalo,

Ray Pikelny-Cook

Principal
